I didn’t set out to be an herbalist. Actually, I didn’t set out to be anything. There are just too many things I find interesting and choosing just one thing to focus on was nearly impossible. My husband teases me about the amount of jobs I have had over the course of my life. I tell him it keeps me adaptable and I’m just wired that way. The one thing that has been constant though is my connection to nature. When I was a kid I was always outside. Living in mostly rural areas gave me a lot of space to roam the fields and forests and I still find those are the places that bring me back to my center.
My foray into holistic health began with massage school at the Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado and I have been a certified massage therapist now for almost 3 decades.
I first heard about herbs while I was in massage school and I was intrigued. I discovered The Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies which was owned by herbalist Feather Jones. It was near where I lived so of course I enrolled and completed that particular course in 1995. It was amazing! And I knew nothing! But I loved it!
Flash forward. Over the years I have had the opportunity to learn from many teachers and I am still learning but I am also proud to call myself an herbalist. And all those many passions and interests that seemed so random intersect at a place I call Weed Woman Herbals. When I was still very green (pun intended) at all this my husband would comment about all the time I spent digging in the weeds and dubbed me the Weed Woman and it kind of fit… okay it totally fit and it definitely stuck!
Opening to the plants has touched my heart in a deep and profound way and I am honored to give back what I have learned. That said, there is a shit ton of information out there! I will do my best to help you sift through it and distill it down to what is important and relevant and what works for you and your life. I will share insights and ideas and resources. I don’t have all the answers but I continue to ask questions and stay open to receiving and dancing with the magic of the entire universe.
